Use a bit less essential oil than you would fragrance oil.
Don't waste any time or money trying to color the soap either, as it will turn brown from the vanilla.
Vanilla Fragrance oils will also create a brown soap, and those that claim to be non-discoloring don't smell like vanilla. So brown soap is the price you have to pay to have a great smelling vanilla soap.

You can find the best vanilla Fragrance oil here....

But like I said it will make your white soaps turn brown over a period of several weeks.

Another great place to buy supplies is here.

Essential oils should only comprise 1-3 percent of your recipe/formula. Also most essential oils will cause your soap to trace really fast, so your molds should be ready, and to be safe, add your oil last and at a light trace. In addition, vanilla will turn your soap brown unless you add a stabilizer to your soap.

Essential oils are incredibly strong, you only need to add a few drops, it's normally about 2ml-5ml per 100ml.

You can add an essential oil to substitute a fragrance oil, no problem. As long as it is truly a (natural) vanilla essential oil (not a vanilla oil for use in oil burners, or anything like that). Use the same amount as you would a fragrance oil. It won't affect your saponification.
