I've rented many apartments over the years and I have never told personal details such as that. Nor have I ever been asked for that information before signing a lease. The main things they are concerned about is smoking, yours not the incense and if you have pets that they don't allow. They don't need to know that you burn lavender candles to relax at the end of a hard day a lot of tenants do, as well as your prospective landlord. Good Luck in your apartment hunting!

Some landlords do not like the incense because of the smoke. Any aroma that would permeate the paint would be a concern to a landlord.I would mention it, and find out if there are any restrictions. If your candles, incense and oils are so strong the neighbors can smell it, it might be a problem. One mans meat is another mans poison, you might think it smells great, but you neighbor might hate it. Or at least not want to smell sandalwood or some such when they want to eat dinner.
