I haven't heard of any specifics regarding essential oils, but its always better safe than sorry! Also, it is *never* okay to release domesticated rats into the wild, so don't follow above posters advice please! They are too strong. You need for their environment to be as natural as possible. Try to make it as much like it would be in the wild for them.
