I was told 3-5 times a week by my hair stylist. If you use it every day it can actually dry out your hair, which will make your scalp itch, thus causing more flakes.

As often as directed. If you have time to wash ur hair at least twice or three times a week go ahead. But don't exceed 3 times because the hair has its own moisture stores and u wud be stripping the hair of its natural oils if u wash it too often.
But u could also consult ur dermatologist or ur tricologist if u are unsure.
