Well I guess I wouldn’t do that unless the "oil" is 100% soluble in water. Otherwise it will coat the evaporative surfaces and interfere with the cooling cycle. If it’s soluble and you use a lot of it, you may change the water’s vapor pressure which will lower the cooling efficiency.
