  1. You can chop up a larger scented candle and add a few pieces to the melted wax.

    You can use orange peel, coffee beans, pot pourri, spices like star anise, etc., BUT they have to be at least 2" from the burning wick, otherwise they will catch fire. I have made these types of candles by first making the smaller centre candle, then when it is formed, placing it in the centre of a larger mold and pouring the additional candle wax with the additives around the outside of the original candle.

  2. If you put things like orange peel in a candle it could cause flare ups and possibly a fire. The candle oils are the only safe way I know.

  3. Try natural living things like pine cones from a pine tree, lemon piles, maybe grinding up the seeds of the fruit you have just eaten.. Things like that. Good luck.
